Let's Make 2021 Intentional
Is it just me, or do we always lead the new year with “let’s see what this year will bring!” ?
But does this ever historically lead us to a better year?
This year- let’s do it better. For us, and for each other. Let’s focus on what we can bring to 2021.
The more I saw “leave 2020 behind!” or “2021 - new year, new you!” posts on social media, the more I wanted to do the opposite - focus on bringing with me into 2021 all of the lessons learned and the experience gained by living in such unprecedented times. Let’s face it - we’ve haven’t seen “normal” in over 16 months.
This year, I want to be intentional. Intentional about leading. Intentional about being kind. Intentional about learning and growing. Sometimes, all of these things happen, almost just falling into our laps through the journey we call life. But that’s not taking the reins and really getting uncomfortable, leaning into the intention of the whole thing.
For me? 2021 looks like this:
That thing you’re “not ready” for? Plot twist: you were born ready. Just go do it.
Presence is everything. Accept the moment without arguing with reality.
Life is short. Love others, and yourself, unconditionally. Anything else is a waste of time.
Be gentle, understanding, and loving to yourself. Be honest when you are doing your best.
“Feel it to heal it.” (You actually only feel emotions for 3-5 minutes if you allow yourself to express it. If you hold it in or procrastinate, you’re doing yourself a disservice.)
Get comfortable being uncomfortable - the better you are at handling discomfort, the more fun you can have. Lean in.
Be ruthless with your boundaries and where you’re spending your energy. Respect yourself like the queen/king you know you are, and tolerate no bullshit. People will treat you differently when they sense that you have your own back.
If we did leave 2020 behind, we wouldn’t reap the benefits of what we learned by persevering through all of this. And that’s exactly what we did. Here’s to being successful, through intentional patience, focus, and being a bad-ass. cheers!
